Your Local Post Office will be Closed in Recognition of Veterans Day
 

Rhode Island - Post offices across the state will be closed on Friday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day. There will be no street delivery, except for guaranteed overnight parcels, and all retail operations will be closed for the day. Full retail and delivery operations will resume on Saturday, November 12.

As one of the largest employers of US veterans, nearly 10% of our workforce nationally, the Postal Service is proud to honor the men and women who have selflessly served our country in war and in peacetime and those who continue that tradition today. As the saying goes, “America is the land of the free because of the brave.”

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.

 

 
A second Memphis cop involved in the Tyre Nichols traffic stop has been relieved of duty. On Monday, Memphis police said an unidentified officer and police officer Preston Hemphill were relieved of duty while the investigation into the Nichols' beating continues. Also on Monday, the Memphis Fire Department announced it fired three fire personnel involved in the traffic stop that led to Nichols' death       At least ten people are injured in central Florida after a drive-by shooting in a neighborhood on Monday. Police in Lakeland report two have critical injuries and the rest have non-life-threatening injuries in what's believed to be a targeted attack. Investigators say they found pot at the scene of the shooting. Authorities are still looking for the suspects.        President Biden wants to end two emergencies related to the covid-19 pandemic on May 11th. On Monday, the White House informed Congress that both the national emergency and public health emergency will come to a close, ending most of the COVID relief money. Republicans are working to end the emergencies earlier.       Cindy Williams, the actress who played the Shirley half of Laverne and Shirley, is dead. Williams gained fame in the sitcom that was at the top of the ratings in the mid-1970s. She was 75 years old and died at her home in Los Angeles.       Super Bowl 57 is the first time in history that two Black starting quarterbacks will face off against each other. Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles will go to battle in Arizona on February 12th. This will be Mahomes' third time playing in the Super Bowl while Hurts will be making his first appearance.        The Powerball jackpot sits at more than 600-million-dollars. The top prize for tonight's drawing is going to be at least 613-million. The cash value is 329-million bucks. There hasn't been a Powerball jackpot winner in several weeks.
