If you already receive the Veterans Tax Exemption you do not need to reapply, the new rate will be adjusted. If you do not already receive the Veterans Tax Exemption you have until March 15, 2023 to apply for the tax bill 2023.

The Food Pantry is for North Smithfield residents.

You must have a photo ID and a bill that confirms your North Smithfield address. You can

attend the Food Pantry all four times it is open per month.

The Pantry is located at the Slatersville Congregational Church

UCC on the Common.


Starting in the month of May we will be opening our pantry for indoor shopping. We are

asking that all clients to please bring their own shopping bag and to wear a mask while inside.

Live Streaming Open Meetings




A. Livestreaming for Town Council, Halliwell Review Committee, Zoning Board and Planning Board: The Town will provide livestreaming for the open meetings of the Town Council, Halliwell Review Committee, Zoning Board of Review, and Planning Board whenever feasible via YouTube, Zoom, or some other technology. If technical difficulties occur during the livestream of an open meeting, the open meeting will continue to proceed as scheduled without livestreaming. (Livestreaming increases public access to public meetings in addition to the right of the public to attend open meetings in person.)

B. Public must be physically present to participate. Members of the public, applicants, petitioners, expert s, etc. who want to participate in an open meeting in any fashion must be physically present at the meeting. Members of the public, applicants, petitioners, experts, etc. will not be allowed to participate in an open meeting remotely by offering comment, testimony, or other remarks. through virtual means.

C. No other Board, Commission, or Committee will be livestreamed: Except as specified above, the Town will not provide livestreaming for any other Board, Commission or Committee.

D. Technical Difficulties: If technical difficulties occur during any livestream, the open meeting will continue to proceed as scheduled.

The Secret Service and New York police are coordinating security plans for a possible indictment of former President Donald Trump. The agencies discussed logistics on Monday, including how Trump would potentially surrender on a charge of paying hush money to a porn star ahead of the 2016 election. On social media over the weekend, Trump claimed he would be arrested on Tuesday and called for protests.        Schools will be closed today in California's largest school district. Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said a last-ditch effort to negotiate and avoid a strike fell through on Monday. Sixty-five-thousand L.A.U.S.D. employees will walk out over a labor dispute.        There won't be a curfew in Miami Beach next weekend, but sales of alcohol will be restricted. A curfew was issued Sunday night after two shooting deaths over the weekend. The City Commission held a special meeting Monday, rejecting an additional curfew, but agreeing to have local liquor stores restrict sales of alcohol starting at 6 p.m.        A federal judge is granting class action status to a lawsuit accusing General Motors of knowingly selling cars with faulty transmissions. The lawsuit claims GM vehicles with eight-speed automatic transmissions made between 2015 and 2019 lurch and shutter when driving.        The stage is set for the World Baseball Classic Final. The United States is set to take on Japan tonight at LoanDepot Park in Miami for all the marbles. Japan defeated Mexico 6-5 in the semifinals Monday night on a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth inning.        There could be a lot more games on Netflix by the end of this year. That's because the streaming giant is aiming to have 95 games available on its platform. A top Netflix executive has already confirmed another "Too Hot to Handle" game is on the horizon.
