Still Time To Get A Float In This Year’s Autumnfest Parade

 

Woonsocket – The 44th Autumnfest is on track to be a tremendous celebration.  One of the highlights of Autumnfest is always the 10-Division Parade.  The parade is held the morning of Columbus Day.  This year that day is October 10, 2022.  Now is the time to secure your school, group or organization placement in this year’s parade.

 

Tom Gray, Autumnfest Parade Coordinator said, “We welcome all organizations to be a part of the great Autumnfest Parade experience.  Some groups have already reached out to us but there is always room for more.”  There is still time for your organization (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Sports Team, Dance Studio, etc.) to get a float in this year’s parade.   

 

The Autumnfest Parade is viewed by thousands that turn out each year to watch.  Plus, both Woonsocket radio stations broadcast the parade live.  The parade is also streamed on the internet live and the parade is also videotaped and broadcast on Cable TV.

The Senate is not set to vote today on a funding bill that would reopen the federal government. The shutdown is now on track to become the longest in history tomorrow, surpassing one from President Trump's first term. It comes as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, ran out of money on Saturday. Two federal judges have ruled that the Trump administration needs to make partial payments and can use some discretionary funds.        Two suspects in the alleged Michigan terror plot are now facing federal charges. Last week, FBI Director Kash Patel announced five people had been arrested for "allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend." Mohmed Ali and Majed Mahmoud are scheduled to appear in court this afternoon. Ali allegedly bought a shotgun, AR-15 style rifle as well as other accessories in August and September.        The Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on the legality of President Trump's tariff plan later this week. The focus will be on Trump using a law meant for times of emergency to impose the duties without the help of Congress. The high court scheduled oral arguments for November 5th after it agreed to fast track the case. The tariffs will stay in place until the court makes a decision.        A storm system traveling up the East Coast is bringing rain to areas of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic to start the week. Impacts from the rain are expected to be minimal, but it could result in some travel delays around the I-95 corridor. The system will stay offshore as it brings rain from the Northeast down to North Carolina's Outer Banks.        President Trump has distanced himself from Binance founder Changpeng Zhao despite pardoning the convicted crypto billionaire. Trump told CBS News' Norah O'Donnell in an interview for "60 Minutes" that he has "no idea who he is," while noting that he was only told that he was a victim of a "Biden witch hunt." The president issued a pardon for Zhao last month after he pleaded guilty in 2023 to failing to maintain an effective anti-money laundering regime, and the decision has drawn scrutiny due to the Trump family's business dealings with the crypto exchange.        The first Coca-Cola holiday flavor in five years is hitting store shelves now. The soda company says Coca-Cola Holiday Creamy Vanilla is "a festive twist on the classic tase that delivers comfort, refreshment and seasonal joy." The flavor is described as "a delicious taste of Coca-Cola infused with smooth, creamy vanilla flavors."
