A special Basin WaterFire will kick off the Check the Stigma Hockey Classic on Friday, July 14th at 8pm.

Regions of the world are already celebrating the new year. Japan, China, and New Zealand already held celebrations earlier today. It comes as there was an increased police presence in Sydney as Australia rung in the new year after the deadly Bondi [[ BOND-eye ]] Beach attack earlier this month.        A body has been found in the search for a 19-year-old in Texas who had been missing since Christmas Eve. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office in south Texas says a body was found by search crews a few hundred yards away from her home, in an area of tall grass. Investigators say that the body that was found matched Camila Olmos clothing description, but have not yet positively identified it to be her.        Zohran Mamdani will be sworn as New Yorkers welcome in 2026. The democratic socialist is breaking from tradition and will be sworn in, according to his transition team, with "all New Yorkers" on January 1st. Democratic progressive stars including Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Bernie Sanders will be featured, with AOC delivering opening remarks, and Sanders administering the ceremonial oath of office.        President Trump is taking aim at officials in Colorado over the incarceration of former election clerk Tina Peters. The 73-year-old was convicted on state charges tied to illegally tampering with voting machines in the 2020 election and was later sentenced to nine years in prison. Trump called for her release in a post on Truth Social while also writing he wishes "only the worst" for Colorado Governor Jared Polis and Mesa County District Attorney Dan Rubinstein.        Republican Arizona Senator Jon Kyl is taking a step back from public life after announcing his dementia diagnosis. Kyl noted he and his family are now heading on a path "filled with moments of joy and increasing difficulties." Kyl served four terms in the US House and three terms as a US Senator, as well as a short comeback in 2018 following the death of fellow Republican Senator John McCain.        The College Football Playoff resumes tonight. Number ten Miami will take on number two Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas. The winner will take on the victor of tomorrow's Sugar Bowl in New Orleans between number six Ole Miss and number three Georgia.
