‘Tis the Season to talk about Trash Collections, Delays and Trees!


Just a friendly reminder that there WILL BE NORMAL trash collection on both Christmas EVE and New Years EVE. Please be sure to put out your carts by no later than 6am every morning but especially on these days.

There will be a One-Day delay for Christmas Day and New Years Day!
If the warmer weather has you cleaning up your yard of late fallen leaves or you missed the last curbside pickup back in November, there is a special YARD WASTE ONLY dumpster located at the Recycle Facility at 943 River Street, available to all city residents until January 18th or the first major snowfall, whichever comes first.

Christmas Tree Collection will start January 2nd – January 15th on your trash day. Please be sure to have no lights or ornaments on your trees and to not block any walkways. Real trees may also be brought to the recycling facility until the 18th. Artificial Trees with the metal cores may be brought to the recycling facility and placed for special metal recycling any time of year.

The federal government shutdown is still keeping key economic reports on hold. Weekly jobless claims, retail sales data, and the producer price index won't be released as scheduled. The Senate rejected a bill Wednesday for the ninth time to end the shutdown, after President Trump said he plans to cut programs favored by Democrats, with a full list expected Friday.        President Trump says he has greenlit the CIA to take action in Venezuela. In confirming the authorization on Wednesday, Trump was asked by reporters at the White House if the CIA had been given the greenlight to "take out" Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. He refused to answer.        New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani says it's too soon to credit President Trump for the Israeli-Hamas ceasefire as he wants to see lasting peace first. In an interview with Fox News, Mamdani also said he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visited New York under an ICC war crimes warrant. He emphasized that affordability for working-class New Yorkers remains his top issue ahead of tonight's debate with Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa.        Vice President JD Vance is downplaying a Young Republican group chat filled with thousands of offensive messages, calling them "young boys" telling "edgy jokes." The texts, released Tuesday, included racist, sexist, and violent language, as well as praise for Adolf Hitler. Vance said Wednesday that "kids do stupid things" and that offensive jokes shouldn't ruin anyone's life.        Actress Diane Keaton has died from pneumonia at age 79, her family confirmed to People magazine. They thanked fans for their outpouring of love and support following her passing Saturday. Keaton became a Hollywood icon in the 1970s, starring in hits like The Godfather, Annie Hall, Baby Boom, First Wives Club, and Something's Gotta Give.        United Airlines is making history with in-flight internet, offering Starlink Wi-Fi on Flight 2940 from Newark to Houston. For the first time on a major U.S. airline, passengers can use Starlink on personal devices and in-flight entertainment screens. United says the upgrade lets travelers stream, work, or watch live events without missing a beat.
