The Senate will attempt to vote for a 12th time to end the partial shutdown of the federal government. The shutdown is on day 22, which makes it the second-longest in U.S. history. Senate Democrats refuse to vote for a House funding resolution unless it extends health insurance subsidies used by over 20-million people.        Vice President JD Vance and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held talks today in Jerusalem on the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Speaking ahead of their meeting, Vance said things are going better than he thought. Today's talks come after Hamas on Tuesday returned the bodies of two more dead hostages to Israel.        President Trump's nominee to head the Office of Special Counsel has withdrawn his name from consideration amid a scandal over leaked text messages. On Tuesday Paul Ingrassia announced he'd be withdrawing his name because he doesn't have enough Republican support. This comes after several GOP senators said they would not vote for Ingrassia over Politico's reporting of inflammatory remarks he made about Martin Luther King Jr. Day and having a "Nazi streak."        The man who was wounded in a shooting during a federal immigration operation in South Los Angeles is a TikTok streamer. Forty-four-year-old Carlitos Ricardo Parias was shot on Tuesday morning and is known on the internet as Richard L.A. He is a well-known TikToker who regularly follows ICE. Parias was shot by agents who were trying to arrest him.        A hurricane watch is in effect for Haiti and the Dominican Republic as Tropical Storm Melissa gains strength in the Caribbean. Melissa currently has 50 mile-an-hour winds about 300 miles south of Haiti, where forecasters warn hurricane conditions including flash flooding and landslides are possible within 48 hours. Forecasters say the five-day forecast shows Melissa may move northeast toward Jamaica, where a tropical storm watch is in effect.        A dozen former football coaches are one step closer to Canton. 12 coaches have advanced to the next round of voting for the 2026 class for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The class is highlighted by six-time Super Bowl champ Bill Belichick, who is in his first year of eligibility.
