Interim Report of the Providence County Grand Jury

On March 15, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Miguel Perez with two counts of murder, two counts of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence resulting in death, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, one count of carrying a pistol without a license, and one count of possession of a firearm by an individual convicted of a crime of violence.

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence on October 28, 2023. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on April 3, 2024 in Providence County Superior Court.

 

Tyler Blomstrom-Freeman (age 28)

On March 15, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Tyler Blomstrom-Freeman with two counts of murder, two counts of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence resulting in death, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, one count of carrying a pistol without a license, and one count of possession of a firearm by an individual convicted of a crime of violence.

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence on October 28, 2023. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is to be arraigned at a later date pending extradition from Massachusetts.

 

A baby is among at least five people killed by a powerful storm system that spawned tornadoes across four states. The four-month-old was one of four people killed in Oklahoma, including one who died at a sports bar hit by a twister. Another person lost their life in Iowa due to storm-related injuries.        The White House is urging protesters on university campuses against the Israel-Hamas war to keep demonstrations peaceful. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told ABC's "This Week" said the president understands "there are very strong feelings about the war in Gaza." Kirby, however, condemned antisemitic language and threats of violence seen at some demonstrations.       Former President Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have met in Miami to make amends and discuss fundraising. According to The Washington Post, the two met Sunday for a private meeting brokered by political allies that resulted in DeSantis agreeing to assist Trump. The pair had reportedly not talked since DeSantis dropped out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination in January.       Baltimore leaders joined community members on Sunday to pay tribute to the six construction workers who lost their lives in the recent Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. The ceremony took place on Workers Memorial Day, and it also recognized all who have been injured or lost their lives on the job. The Metropolitan Baltimore Council of AFL-CIO Unions says everyone has the inherent right to a job that ensures they can go home safely to their family at the end of their shift.       After a short hospital stay over the weekend, Harvey Weinstein was sent back to prison Sunday. The 72-year-old former Hollywood producer's 2020 rape conviction was overturned by the New York Court of Appeals on Thursday.        Detroit shattered the record for attendance at the NFL Draft this weekend. The city brought in 775-thousand fans for the event, and Mayor Mike Duggan says it was unexpected to see that many people. Duggan added he had never heard so many people from the Detroit suburbs referring to "we" for the entire city.
